Erasmus Marketing Thesis Award
9th February 2010
Like every year, the Erasmus Marketing Thesis Award is held for all the master graduates in Marketing Management from the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) and the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). This prize has been established for the honour of Prof. Dr. Kuhlmeijer, who founded the marketing department at the school of economics. Next to that, he co-founded the Dutch Institute for marketing: the NIMA.
Prof. Dr. Kuhlmeijer's pioneering spirit and the big influence he had on the acceptance of marketing at university and in business life must inspire marketing students to become top marketers; the departments of Marketing want to encourage this with this thesis prize.
To get nominated for this award, the graduates must have received a grade of 8.5 or higher for their thesis and be preselected by the jury. This year, the jury consisted of Aurelie Lemmens (ESE), Peeter Verlegh (RSM) and Marcel van Brenk (VODW Marketing).

Karin Berns, winnar Elisa López and Monique Mentink |
Three girls were nominated for this award: Karin Berns (RSM), Elisa López (ESE) and Monique Mentink (ESE). During the award ceremony they presented the most important findings of their thesis research. It was very interesting and informative for the audience. The nominees talked about how they came up with their themes, how they did their research, what their results were and which recommendations for further research they had. |
After the consideration of the jury, a winner was chosen... Elisa López it was! With her theme ‘Understanding the potential of providing in-store Unique Customer Experiences (UCEs)' she was the best of the three nominated students. She won the tremendous prize of EUR 1.500, the title ‘Best Marketing Thesis Writer of 2009' and she will go to the national finals, the ‘Nationale Marketing Scriptie Prijs', to represent our university and to strive for becoming the best marketing thesis writer of 2009 in the Netherlands!
We want to wish her good luck at the national finals on the 8th of June and we hope she will be the national winner as well.
Next to that, we want to thank Karin Berns and Monique Mentink for their interesting presentations, the jury and of course everybody who came to the event.
Hopefully this prize will be a great motivator for you, as a student, to do your upmost best in writing your marketing thesis. Maybe we will see you on stage next year!
